Day 27- Destination Reached!!

Final Destination- Rameshwaram!!!!

The three women began their day at 7:40 a.m. and headed towards their final destination from Trichy. The journey so far, had been an exhilarating one; it began on an enthusiastic note topped with a pinch of anxiety and loads of excitement. With all the turns and tribulations that they breezed through; flat tyres, unknown territories, rugged highways, chauvinistic police- vallahs, generous strangers…  And yet it was the last stretch that became the most memorable one, with the clouds welcoming them as they crossed the final hurdle…

As they drove along, they captured some fabulous views of the sea:

The Last Milestone

On day 27 at around 12 noon after driving a total distance of 4114 kms all the way from New Delhi, covering five states and 21 cities, our three women reached their final destination- Rameshwaram!!!

And each of them celebrated this moment in their own special way… Sarita- captured this moment on the wide lens, Monicka- went all ecstatic and emotional, and Neeru- couldn’t hardly wait to inform her loved ones about their big moment!

They, literally, had love-birds to celebrate the occasion in their room at the Pearl Residency:

After soaking in the spirit of Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, Mandakini, Narmada, ,Tunga, Bhadra, Kaveri…  it was time for a holy dip in the mighty waters of the Ocean.

They then visited the Ramanathaswamy Temple on the island. The temple brings two major sects of Hinduism under one roof- Shaiva and Vaishnava. This is also one of the Jyotirlingas, where it is believed that Lord Rama himself worshiped Shivalinga to absolve the sin of killing a brahmana, committed during his war against the demon king Ravana in Sri Lanka.

The day ended on a tranquil note.. excitement running high, they laid awake in their bed late into the night, yet this was not the end… what awaited them was the journey back home!!
